A Tennessee woman died three years after giving birth to her son while in a coma, People reports.
Sharista Giles' family confirmed through a message on Facebook that the woman had died last Monday, May 21. This, almost after four years of being in a car accident where she was severely injured, reports People.
In 2014, Giles was returning to his Sweetwater home with friends. The woman and her friends were coming from a concert in Nashville, when the driver of the vehicle they were traveling in hit a containment or railing reported WATE 6.
People indicate that at the time, his friends walked out of the accident, but Giles was badly injured and was not responding.
Back then, Giles was four months pregnant with her son, Leighton. Although the boy's mother was in a coma, the baby was successfully born; brought into the world by doctors. Leighton was born premature, Fox News, People reported.
The young woman's family announced her death with an emotional message published on the Facebook page, Giles Family Prayers for Sharista & Newborn Baby L. “This saddens my heart when I say it, but we all know that she is no longer suffering. Sharista Giles won her wings this morning. She has suffered for three and a half years and is now rejoicing with our Heavenly Father. She can walk, talk, sing, dance and have that beautiful smile again. Rest in peace our sweet angel. We love you baby and you are greatly missed. And we will make sure that your child is loved and cared for. Fly high and spread your wings,”read the message.
