An Arkansas couple has been arrested and sentenced to prison for a terrible event. Her daughter, just two weeks old, was taken to the hospital when she was found covered in rat bites all over her body, as reported by PEOPLE magazine.
The parents respond to the names of Erica Shryock and Charles Elliot, both sentenced to five years in prison after accepting their guilt and allowing the abuse of this minor. It all happened in May of last year. The couple went to the hospital with their little girl in these terrible conditions, which led medical officials to inform the authorities.
The wounds that the doctor came to count were between 75 and 100 throughout the body, arms, hands, face and fingers. One of the most serious was located on the forehead. Its depth was so great that you could even see the skull. Given this gravity, the parents were questioned by the police, who confirmed that the girl was sleeping with them in the basement.
The night of the event, the girl woke up to screaming and it was when, they indicate, they realized the amount of bites that the newborn had. When they went to see her, they realized that she was full of blood. The parents admitted that they knew about the problem they had with the rats in their home but that they did nothing about it.
Although at first they hesitated to take the little girl to the hospital for fear that they would remove her for such lack of care, in the end they decided to do it for the good and the health of the little girl. The doctors confirmed that the severe destruction of the skin was the result of the bites of rats that had to take their time. Something that shows the delay of her parents in caring for the little girl.
The two parents ended up admitting that they used drugs on those days. Their irresponsibility has cost them their stay in prison. The little girl had to undergo surgery to do facial surgery, especially to treat the terrible wound on her forehead. Currently it has already been adopted by a family.
