Newton County, Georgia authorities are investigating how a 15-day-old baby ended up dead in a briefcase left in the woods. Her father is being questioned as a "person of interest."

According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution Caliyah C. McNabb, who was born two weeks ago, was reported missing on Saturday. Her parents told the police that at 5 in the morning they had fed her, they changed her and placed her in her bedroom, which she shared with her 2-year-old sister. But, five hours later, when they returned to see her, she was gone.

The police issued a search warrant for the home and family members were questioned, since a search party was organized that included the forest area near their home. On Sunday, around 3 in the afternoon, a baby's body was found inside a briefcase in the forest. Authorities reported when his father, Chris McNab b, learned of the find and fled in his girlfriend's car.

Four hours later the police found him and he was detained on charges that he had violated his probation and as a person of interest in this investigation.

Although the girl only lived 15 days, her grandfather, Tim Bell, assured that he loved her with all his heart. "Her head was the size of a tennis ball. It was so small. It was beautiful, "she said. "Things like that shouldn't happen."
