Sgt. Eva Peña of the New York Police Department was arrested and charged with shoplifting, the New York Post reported. The NYPD officer was on her day off when she allegedly robbed a Macy's store in Yonkers, according to police. The woman has been suspended from work after the incident.
Peña was arrested Tuesday at 8:30 pm in the store after being caught by security cameras hiding six items of clothing in her wallet without paying for them, according to the police report. It is reported that she had removed the price tags on clothing and that the merchandise was worth more than $ 350.
The woman - who worked in the Bronx area and according to the non-profit company Empire Center earned $ 107,809 in 2018 - tried to leave the premises unnoticed, but was previously arrested. Officers from the Yonkers Police Department arrested Peña after being charged with theft.
