For advertising campaigns, companies usually hire big-name models or slim girls who have some experience in front of the lens. Even many actresses have been the muses of some of the campaigns of the most prestigious designers or brands. However, we are already in another era and more and more the industry is being more inclusive and creative when it comes to carrying out its campaigns or designing its garments. Recently J. Crew announced that it was launching a collection for plus size girls for the first time and last week Asos.com launched a trouser and jacket set designed with wheelchair girls in mind. Now Aerie really made a difference by campaigning that is reaching everyone's heart.
The brand that some time ago decided not to fix the photos they use in their campaigns, now included young people with different physical disabilities or skin conditions. In the images a girl appears in a wheelchair, with crutches, down syndrome, vitiligo, fibromyalgia, cancer and even with an insulin pump.
"As a brand, Aerie has been the leader in the mission of empowering women and celebrating diversity and a positive attitude across all sizes since we launched our # AerieReal2014," Jennifer Foyle, the company's global president, told Fashionista. com. "Our new models are part of our commitment to show real and authentic women, who are the foundation of everything we do."
To choose the girls, the brand called on its social networks for those who wanted to send their photos and their story and the women who appear in this campaign were chosen from that group that was encouraged to send their photos. Bravo Aerie!
