Since winning the Nuestra Belleza Latina contest, Francisca Lachapel's life has completely changed. From being a simple girl full of dreams who worked in a restaurant in New York City, she became one of the most beloved presenters on television. However, that jump to fame was not easy for the also Dominican actress. Her social networks were filled with people who loved and admired her, but also with strong and demeaning comments about her appearance that affected her greatly.
"When I win Latino Beauty, people's criticism makes me feel like a monster," says Lachapel. "The criticism at the level of beauty was so strong because for many I do not fit the prototype of beauty to have won a crown."
Luckily and thanks to the support of her family, the presenter overcame the criticism and focused on all the shows of support that her more than a million followers showed on social networks.
"Yes, there have been many who have criticized me, but more have loved me," he says. “All those people who write to me, who have told me they are inspired, who have taken up a career [and] have continued because they think that if I can they can. That is the best award I have received and it is the greatest strength, the greatest thrust to move forward.”
Thanks to her talent, determination and, of course, beauty, Lachapel continues to succeed at Univisión and recently was on the cover of the 50 most beautiful People in Spanish. Francisca is definitely one of the darlings.
