Cuban host, model and businesswoman Daisy Fuentes celebrates 10 years designing her own line for the Kohls chain of stores. An anniversary that they celebrate by launching a capsule collection with their favorite clothes in the fall winter collection, available from October.

!! Congratulations!! 10 years is an important figure in this business …

Thank you. I am very proud. It is very important, especially these days that business is more difficult. I wait at least another 10 if God wants.

What is the secret of your success?

I don't know if there is a secret but I think that being authentic, doing things with integrity, having a good team and being clear about the mission [is key]. I think when you like what you do, you have passion and you are learning and having fun at the same time things happen naturally.

How did the idea of being a designer come about?

More than ten years ago I was on television very involved with everything that had to do with fashion, working with the best designers, stylists … then it was like a very natural transition, it felt like it was a hobby, not a business. Being able to see it that way helped me a lot.

To what extent do you get involved in creating your collections?

My part is all creative. I work with the design team everything that has to do with the fabrics, the shapes, the vision … and I also work with the Kohl's team. What I don't know, I learn, but at the same time I surround myself with the best and let them do their job. They respect me and I respect them.

What kind of woman is wearing your clothes?

I identify with the collection, and they ask me 'what woman do you design for?' well, for me. For me, for my mom, for my sisters, for my friends, for my colleagues and I think that it has made a big difference for me because it feels very authentic. [My clients] are women who know their style, who like to look good but who have a thousand things to do and do not want to be slaves to fashion, [they are] elegant, classic and intelligent.

What are the most successful garments?

Something that has always worked is sweaters. In recent years I have added dresses and they have also done very well.

And what are your favorites?

Also sweaters and dresses. I really like very practical clothes, beautiful with trendy elements but at the same time with a certain sophistication and glamor. I also like that you can mix everything, they are independent garments and with few pieces you have many looks.

Sweaters feel very soft

Rich, right? I like that it feels comfortable and that it looks expensive. Today there is no reason to spend a million to look elegant.
