Michelle Obama Advice For Meghan Markle

Just a few days ago we shuddered at the epic encounter between Meghan Markle and Beyoncé that ignited the networks. Now, a new meeting between the Duchess of Sussex and another famous female - which happened behind closed doors - is giving much to talk about.

This is the talk that Prince Harry's wife had with Michelle Obama herself, the first lady of the United States. Barack Obama's wife is one of 15 guests of honor at the September special issue of Vogue UK magazine featuring the Duchess of Sussex as Guest Editor.

Markle was in charge of interviewing Obama and sharing his advice and messages, which, she says, left her "speechless." "We discussed the project over a casual chicken taco lunch and my growing belly," explained Markle, 37, in the magazine.

The duchess had asked Obama for his opinions and advice on motherhood and achieving a balance between public and private life. "Being a mother has been a master class in letting go," Obama explained when she sent her responses back to Meghan. “No matter how hard we try we can only control a certain number of things. And boy, have I tried, especially at first. As moms we just don't want anything or anyone to hurt our babies. But life has other plans. Scraped knees, rough roads, and broken hearts are part of the deal.”

The magazine includes interviews and photos with figures like Salma Hayek, Jane Fonda, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Christy Turlington Burns:

"Motherhood has taught me that, most of the time, my job is to provide you with the space to explore and develop as the people you want to be," Sasha and Malia Obama's mother continued. "Not what I want them to be or what I wish they had been at that age, but what they really are, deep inside."

“Motherhood has also taught me that my job is not to flatten the path for them in order to eliminate all possible adversity. Instead, I need to be that safe and reliable place where they can land whenever they inevitably fall. And show them over and over, how to stand up for themselves."

By the way, in the edition, Mrs. Michelle takes the opportunity to express her congratulations to Meghan and Harry on the birth of their son Archie, urging them to enjoy every moment with their baby, no matter how tired or overwhelmed they are. "I'm excited for you and Harry that they can experience that, Meghan. Taste it."
