Jenna Ortega On Elena Of Avalor: "A Latina Princess Was Long Overdue."

Disney's Elena of Avalor was an instant success this year as a groundbreaking series with the first ever Latina princess. The animated show made its' debut on Disney Channel in July and the announcement of a second season followed just a month after. The Latina princess was even brought to life with a royal welcoming at Walt Disney World.

“It's just a few weeks into the launch of Elena of Avalor and we are already seeing what an impact and connection she is making with kids and families, said Nancy Kanter, executive vice president of original programming and general manager at Disney Junior Worldwide, during the welcoming event.

The series centers around the adventures of Elena Castillo Flores, the teenage ruling princess of Avalor, a fictional kingdom inspired by Latin culture and architecture. With all its success, the animated series is now on DVD in a collection titled Ready to Rule, which includes the first four episodes of season one.

Stuck in the Middle star Jenna Ortega is the voice behind Isabel, the youngest sister of the title character, and she shares that the Ready to Rule DVD makes a great gift this holiday season as it also includes a free exclusive projecting scepter, similar to the one Elena uses on the show.

With the DVD out now and the second season in the works, Ortega reveals that there is much more to expect. “You will see a lot more crazy adventures and Isabel going to school more,” said the 14-year-old.

The actress also shared that she is proud to be a part of an impactful show that brought diversity to the small screen. “It's something that I'm very grateful for. I love working on Elena of Avalor; a Latina princess was long overdue and to be able to play one is a dream come true,”she said.
