Summer is just around the corner and online searches for fast diets are the order of the day.
With the radical changes of celebrities such as Raúl De Molina, who was recently admitted to a center where he was taught to improve his eating habits, or Jacqie Rivera and his surprising loss of 70 pounds, it is very easy to think that lightning diets can work.
Dominican nutritionist Candy Calderón, an expert in holistic nutrition, says that any change must start from within.
“Take into account all these things that affect your health. When you see all these radical changes. Generally people start with an internal change and that change goes through time. All those radical changes where people say: 'I'm going to lose 50 pounds in two months', that is not realistic, it is even harmful to the body."
Every healthy process takes time. Calderón explains that maintaining a consistent routine, a healthy diet and physical activity throughout the week is essential.
“Many times this is genetics. Having a great body and being thin is not synonymous with health. I can have the perfect body and inside I can be super acidic and be a time bomb.”
How to start?
"The ideal is to make small changes that are sustainable in the body and that we can keep it for the whole year and that we don't have to go into that panic mode and spring begins to come and [we start] thinking about summer," he says. "You are not going to undo a year of mischief with a month of green smoothies."
