Aaron Trejo, 17, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the brutal murder of a young pregnant cheerleader, the New York Post reported. The teenager confessed to killing Breana Rouhselang, 17, and the baby she was expecting, the WSBT-TV channel reported. The crime occurred in December 2018 in Indiana. Trejo, who played football at his high school, told authorities that he had argued with Breana about the baby he was expecting, that it was his son.

According to reports, Trejo did not want to become a father at such a young age and wanted the young woman to have an abortion, reason why he supposedly got angry when Breana confessed that he was expecting a child already when his pregnant woman was advanced. The last time Breana was seen alive was the night before at her Mishawaka home, but she left around 11 p.m. to speak to the father of her unborn child and never returned, says an arrested affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

"I took action, I took his life," Trejo told Detective Gery Mullins of South Bend, according to official documents obtained by Fox News. The student also confessed, according to authorities, that he had discarded Breana's lifeless body in a garbage container behind a restaurant. When police searched the surroundings of Breana's home, they found her eyeglasses, a bloody stocking cap, and other traces of blood. This led them to discover Breana's corpse in a garbage dump in that area, according to official documents. The young woman was 6 months pregnant when she was killed. Trejo could spend up to 80 years in prison if found guilty during her trial, which begins in January.
