The death of an elderly man who was found dead inside an elevator a month after he went missing in Denver, Colorado, continues to cause surprise. Authorities have reportedly found evidence that the 82-year-old man had twice pressed the button for help and is now trying to determine why no one came to his rescue.

Isaak Komisarchik, 82, suffered from senile dementia and had been missing since early July. Since then, with the help of his family, the Denver police have been tasked with locating the old man.

It was not until July 31 that his body was located inside an elevator located in a parking lot that was under repair in the Woodstream Village residential complex, where Komisarchik lived.

The discovery was made after neighbors started complaining about a terrible smell coming from the elevator. "I identified the smell immediately, because I work for a pest control company and unfortunately I know the smell of dead rats," building resident Joseph Palmer told CNN. "I asked if they had already determined what the smell was," the man explained, "and they said 'yes, we already solved it, in fact they found a lifeless body.'"

"Something is not right and the police are going to determine what it is," Greg Pixley of the Denver Fire Department told ABC-Denver7. The man said that there is digital evidence that Komisarchik was in the elevator on July 6 and that he pressed the emergency button twice, but that apparently no one answered.
