Leopoldo López, the Venezuelan political prisoner who was jailed again on Tuesday, confirmed through a video that his wife Lilian Tintori is pregnant.
“I want to tell all of you that this fight is worth it. I am recording this message with Lilian because we are in this together, because we are clear of the risk that we are running as a family,”said the opponent of the regime of President Nicolás Maduro, who was imprisoned for three and a half years and had recently been granted the conditional freedom.
"There is one more reason to fight for Venezuela and it has been one of the best news I have received in the last three and a half years," he added.
The 6-minute message was posted on López's YouTube account hours after he was taken out of his house at dawn by agents of the Venezuelan Government's security forces, who justified the revocation of the probation of politics with the argument of that he had violated the rules by which he had been released from prison.
In the video, you hear that it was recorded on July 17, before his wife left with her children for the United States.
The arrest of López and the also opposition Antonio Ledezma has further deepened the political crisis in the oil country, after the plebiscite held on Sunday by the ruling party to reform the constitution that has been condemned by the opposition as a coup and received the rejection of a good part of the international community.
