Young Father Killed On His Wedding Day

What must have been one of the happiest days of his life ended in tragedy for a young father, who was killed in a brutal beating on his wedding day. Joe Melgoza, 30, who married on Sunday, was attacked during his wedding reception in the courtyard of a relative's home in Chino, California, KTLA reported. About 2:20 am the police found Melgoza seriously wounded and with a heavy blow to the head, the Chinese Police Department said in a statement.

Police arrived at the home after receiving a call about a fight on Oaks Avenue, a few blocks from the Melgoza party. Upon arriving at the scene of the fight, the officers found two people beaten and witnesses told them that there was another injured person who had been involved in the incident, but who had disappeared from the scene. Police continued to search the surrounding area and found Melgoza, who was rushed to the hospital, where he died. After the death of the newly married couple, the police arrested two brothers, Rony Aristides Castaneda Ramírez, 28, and Josué Daniel Castaneda Ramírez, 19, as suspects in the crime. It has not yet been revealed if Melgoza knew the attackers. The case remains under investigation.

Melgoza's family has created a GoFundMe account to raise money to help with the costs of his funeral. "Joe was loving as a son, brother, father, cousin, partner and friend," says a message on the GoFundMe page. “I always found a way to make you smile. It was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. They took it from us in such a tragic and horrible way,”his loved ones lamented. The newly married man left behind his wife and daughter Lilly. Rest in peace.
