A man is in custody for an attack captured on video where he shoves another person under the wheels of a truck in downtown Los Angeles.

The victim was left in critical condition with a collapsed lung and broken bones after being pushed onto the street and hit by a truck. The moment was documented in a video from security cameras obtained by ABC7, which served to allow authorities to recognize the suspect less than an hour after the attack.

The individual wore a neon-colored jacket and baggy pants, in addition to his characteristic behavior, which were key factors in identifying him.

The suspect is expected to face one count of attempted murder. Witnesses said they believe he is a homeless person.

The video makes it possible to see when the suspect is sitting at a table that was outdoors on the sidewalk, observing passers-by after 10 a.m. Wednesday at 300 West 6th Street.

When a walking man approaches, the suspect gets up and launches himself at him, shoving him into the street. The man falls to the ground and onto the curb just as a truck passes.

When the victim falls under the front wheels of the truck, the suspect leans over to see how it wrinkles under the tire. Then he puts his hands in his pockets and casually walks away.

The victim suffered a collapsed lung and broken bones and is in critical condition at a local hospital.
