Few stories of violence and crime have shaken Mexico as much as the one that has just been exposed by the story of a subject who is now called "The Monster of Ecatepec".
Juan Carlos "N" and his wife, Patricia Martínez, were detained in the State of Mexico after it was discovered that he was behind the kidnapping, murder, dismemberment and consumption of the mortal remains of at least 20 women in events that date back to 2012.
The couple resided in the Jardínes de Morelos neighborhood. She was selling used clothes, cheese and schites - a dish prepared with cooked corn kernels - and her husband sold perfumes, clothes and mobile phones, they also recycled garbage.
The entity's Attorney General's Office indicates that the now detainee went hunting his victims with his partner for six years. The violent killings were chillingly detailed by the detainees.
According to the woman, in 2012 her husband placed an advertisement outside his house looking for a maid to help her with the housework. The first victim was identified as "Fabiola" a pregnant woman who responded to the job offer and who was killed by her husband in the bathroom of the house. The woman assures that when she realized that the woman had died, she was shocked and wanted to denounce her partner. "She told me to be stupid that we were going to be locked up, and I believed her."
With a chilling coldness, the woman related what they did then with the corpse: "Juan Carlos cut off a piece of meat from his right leg, filleting it, removing four steaks, and I made roast meat and we ate." The woman and her husband disposed of the remains in a nearby garbage dump.
The terrifying case continues under investigation by the authorities, because there is apparently an accomplice: a subject who bought the bones of the victims from the Mexican "cannibals".
According to multiple sources, the couple raised suspicions when on October 4, they were caught by policemen pushing a baby carriage and some plastic bags. As they approached the suspects, officers discovered with horror that the cargo was human remains.
Prosecutor Alejandro Gómez Sánchez reported to Noticieros Televisa that during a search of the house they discovered buckets, cardboard boxes and bags full of remains. According to said official, the "Monster of Ecatepec" confessed to his crimes, attributing his behavior to revenge against women because when he was a child his mother forced him to dress in feminine clothes.
