Notting Hill Actress Emma Chambers Dies

The British star who participated in the Notting Hill tape, Emma Chambers, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 53, as announced by Jon Plowman, executive producer of the BBC.

For his part, John Grant, the actress's agent, confirmed his death on Saturday through a statement and said Chambers died of natural causes. "We are very sad to announce the untimely death, by natural causes, of acclaimed actress Emma Chambers," Grant told Entertainment Weekly. “Over the years, Emma created a lot of characters. She brought laughter and joy to many, and we will miss her. In this difficult time, we ask that the privacy of family and loved ones be respected."

Almost two decades before his death, Chamber's spoke about his history of having asthma attacks and chronic animal allergies. "I can't touch animals," he told The Telegraph in 2002.

The actress said her allergies were so severe that she was almost hospitalized after finding a cat in her dressing room.
