A year after the murder of actor and driver Renato López and his public relations officer Omar Girón, the investigation is still open and authorities have failed to close the case.

The prosecution of the State of Mexico revealed that the motive for the murder remains a mystery, but they indicated that the murderers only wanted López dead, so the motive could be passionate.

It was on November 23, 2016 that the actor was shot in the abdomen and face that took his life. His body, along with Girón's, was found inside a vehicle in the state of Jilotzingo.

The Attorney General of the State of Mexico , Alejandro Jaime Gómez Sánchez, announced shortly after authorities tracked down the owner of the truck where the bodies found and arrested Jose Pedro N and Mario Alberto N.

The first would be the one who handled the vehicle and the second hired at least two more people to carry out the murder in a material way, according to authorities.

"The first line of investigation that we have been able to establish indicates a possible revenge against the victim identified as Renato López," said the Mexican attorney. "This alleged revenge would have been ordered by a subject from whom we have already been able to gather various information to request the corresponding arrest warrant against him."

According to the Mexican press, since then, no new steps have been announced in the investigation that lead to identifying the subject the attorney was talking about or clarifying why the actor was wanted dead. As far as is known, the two arrested remain in prison awaiting trial.

On the occasion of the mourning anniversary, many of López's colleagues and friends, such as Bárbara Mori or blogger Alexandra Ivanisevic, remembered him on the networks.
