The murder of Televisa's corporate vice president of Telecommunications, Adolfo Lagos, which occurred on Sunday has shocked the media industry and generated many different reactions on the networks.
The Attorney General of Justice of the State of Mexico reported that the top executive was assassinated while cycling on the Tulancingo-Pirámides highway, but did not offer any details.
According to the version of the events that appeared in the media, two subjects emerged from the bushes next to the road with the alleged intention of apparently stealing his bicycle. The Televisa manager was accompanied by another man and his bodyguard, who tried to protect them, but could not prevent Lagos from being shot in the stomach.
Under the hashtag #AdolgoLagos, several Twitter users have expressed their rejection of this crime, while others are taking advantage to direct attention to the serious problem of violence that is shaking Mexico.
One of the first to put her finger on the line was the actress Edith González, who indicated that it is regrettable that this adds to the growing statistics of violence that the country has suffered for years.
The country's president, Enrique Peña Nieto, sent a tweet regretting his murder, but it was received with a wave of criticism from the tweeters, who asked him that instead of regretting it was better to prevent crime in the Aztec country.
There was also no one who questioned the theory of the assault, such as the blogger Verónica Calderón who expressed that she is impressed “by the speed and unprofessionalism of the Mexican media in calling the murder of Adolfo Lagos as an“assault”. Without evidence, without anything. Others indicated their disbelief that someone killed a cyclist only to steal a bicycle.
A user identified as Edgardo Perez A, sent a tweet saying that although he considers this murder to be regrettable, it leads to a deeper problem: Televisa and the current regime must understand that sooner or later we all get the misfortune of crime, inequity and injustice. Why don't we change the model?”.
For their part, expressing their dismay at the murder, several cyclists also indicated that they were concerned about how little safety there is for them.
In a statement, Televisa reported that it deeply regrets the death of its executive, who was also the director of the telecommunications company Izzi, and sent his condolences to his wife, daughters and members of his family.
