Google paid tribute to Selena Quintanilla on Tuesday dedicating her video doodle to celebrate the legacy of the late Mexican-American singer.
The doodle, which is the drawing with the name of Google at the top of the search engine, is seen in 14 countries, including Mexico and the United States. It tells the story of the singer with the sound of her hit “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom”.
Precisely October 17 is a very important date in the career of the Texan singer, since it is the anniversary of the release of her first album, Selena, under the Capitol EMI label.
The video was created with the help of the Quintanilla family and took two years to complete. The singer's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, visited the company's offices in San Francisco to unveil the doodle internally, before going public, the company said.
Likewise, as part of Google's initiative to honor Selena's influence, today you can also enjoy a digital exhibition on the Google Arts & Culture page that includes objects from the Selena Museum, thanks to the collaboration of the Quintanilla family.
Selena Quintanilla was assassinated more than 22 years ago by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar, but her music is still valid among her legion of fans. Many have transmitted to their children the love for the songs of the Queen of Tex-Mex, who before her premature death managed to launch five record productions.
