Marc Anthony and Jennifer López announced on Wednesday the creation together with other celebrities of deSomos Una Voz, an initiative that aims to harness the star power of the stars of entertainment, art and sports to help victims of natural disasters.
The celebrity group, which together has more than 1 billion followers on its different social media and digital media platforms, has decided to work together "to help spread the word and raise awareness about the existing needs of the victims", explains the statement sent by Marc Anthony's public relations office.
Furthermore, Somos Una Voz is working to "bring water, shelter, medicines, generators and communications to the affected areas" after the recent natural disasters in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
The announcement of the birth of this new humanitarian entity comes days after Marc Anthony lashed out in a swearing tweet at President Donald Trump for his apparent lack of attention to the catastrophe Puerto Rico is suffering from.
With thousands of houses and businesses damaged, without electricity and running water, the Caribbean island is on the brink of a humanitarian crisis just a week after the devastating passage of Hurricane Maria, the strongest to hit the United States in the last 80 years..
The serious situation in Puerto Rico adds to the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Mexico, where at least 337 people lost their lives and thousands have been left homeless.
The list of artists who have joined the initiative of Marc Anthony and Jennifer López includes Alejandro Fernández, Alejandro Sanz, Alex Rodrúguez, Alex Sensation, Bruno Mars, Camila, Chayanne, Daddy Yankee, Ed Sheeran, Edward Norton, Enrique Santos, Fat Joe, Fonseca, Gente de Zona, J Balvin, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessy & Joy, Jimmy Smiths, John Leguizamo, Juan Luis Guerra, Kany García, Lin Manuel Miranda, Luis Fonsi, Maluma, Magic !, Mario Domm, MOtiff, Nacho, Narciso Rodríguez, Nicky Jam, Paul Simon, Pitbull, Prince Royce, Ricky Martin, Romeo Santos, Vin Diesel and Yandel.
