A friend of the author of the attack in San Bernardino, CA, pleaded guilty to acquiring the weapons with which the tragedy was perpetrated in December 2015.

Enrique Márquez admitted to conspiring with his friend Syed Rizwan Farook, who along with his wife Tashfeen Malik- committed the terrorist act.

Marquez struck a deal with the US attorney's office in which he also admitted to conspiring to commit other attacks that the terrorists planned against a community college on Riverside and Highway 91, both in California, authorities reported.

This agreement implies that the accused will serve a 25-year prison term.

The young man, who has been detained since December 21, 2015 awaiting trial, acquired two AR-15 assault rifles - between November 2011 and February 2012 - with money allegedly from Farook. He also practiced shooting with the terrorist, who was his friend.

Although in late 2012 their friendship cooled, Farook kept the weapons. Marquez met Farook, who was his neighbor, when he moved to Riverside in 2004. He shared his extremist ideology, with which the young Hispanic man sympathized. In 2007, he converted to Islam and began attending a mosque in Corona, CA. In the December 2015 attack on the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, 14 people died and 22 were injured. Márquez was not present in the shooting nor was he accompanying Farook and his wife when they were shot by the police.
