The most important designers and the most fashionable models of the moment gather at New York Fashion Week. It was in this environment of glamor and elegance that Reshma Qureshi saw her great dream come true: to walk on a catwalk and show her face with great pride.

It was in 2014 when she was just 17 that the young woman from India was attacked with acid while on her way to school. This act, perpetrated by a group of men, disfigured his face and almost took his life. Later it was discovered that one of the men who attacked her was the ex-husband of her sister, who months before had left her for abuse.

"I hated any human presence around me. I tried to commit suicide several times, "Qureshi told a post. "I couldn't bear to see myself in the mirror."

Luckily, now life smiles at him. The young woman is the face of the #Endacidsale campaign of the organization Make Love Not Scars and appears in a series of YouTube videos giving beauty tips while raising awareness about this problem that affects more than 500 women a year in India. Thanks to these videos, she was invited by FTL Moda, a company that fights against beauty stereotypes that exist in the fashion world, to parade during such an important fashion week.

"I feel great and the experience was incredible," Qureshi told the half-minutes after modeling a beautiful cream floral print suit by Indian designer Archana Kochhar. "I feel like this changed my life."
