Myrka Dellanos is very clear about her vocation, that's why the journalist is focused today on helping everyone in need. Together with her friend, the Colombian pastor Martha Socarrás, she created Amigas en la ciudad, a platform where women can take refuge and have comfort.

What are you doing now, Myrka?

What I do is I give motivational talks, I travel across the country [United States] and Latin America. I speak to God's people about my faith, which is what I have done for many years. I do commercials, freelance, and if Univision or Telemundo calls me, I do. But it's not something I really do full time. It is intermittent. I am happy, I feel super full I am living the purpose of my life, which is to help all people.

How did you know that was your purpose in life?

From a young age that was what my mom instilled in me. I grew up in the Church, I have always spoken it, if you are blessed with something, it is always to bless others. Our life has only one purpose, if we are helping another person, it is in any field. If I have received something and if I feel full and have peace in my life, I [want] other people to feel the same.

How did you create this group to help women?

They write to me a lot on Instagram. I have a group now called “Friends in the city”, we have our Instagram and our website. It came out for Sex and the City. A friend and I five years ago were in New York, they had invited me to do an evangelistic crusade. We were in Centarl Park and we were walking the streets in New York and we talked that it would be interesting to do something that had to do with friends and not with sex.

This is how we did Friends … Now that I am in Miami a few months ago, we said, 'we are going to take up the idea and offer a friendship that is genuine for women and give them principles of life from what we have been through'.

[A] Martha Socarrás, I met her interviewing her years ago about her history.

How has the people's response been?

The women come to us to have a friendship and every month we have a meeting. More and more women are reaching us. No matter what you believe in, it's just getting together, talking, and giving life principles that are based on what God has for us, [that] always gives us hope. This is a group for women, but the other talks I give are for everyone.
