After more than ten hours of debate, the House of Representatives has finally approved bringing Donald Trump to impeachment for two crimes: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress by the Ukrainegate scandal. The president is accused of alleged pressure on Ukraine to obtain electoral benefits.
The decision was finalized at eight o'clock yesterday afternoon after a long day on Capitol Hill where both blocks, Democrats and Republicans, defended their arguments for and against this 'impeachment'. The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, who had to put order on several occasions, finally read the final result, which ended with 229 votes in favor and 198 against.
The president's reaction was immediate and, as it is his own, he has used his social networks to share his annoyance with the agreed decision.
"So many heinous lies of the radical left," began his writing. "This is an assault on America and the Republican Party !!!" read his first impressions.
With this decision, Donald Trump becomes the third president in the history of the United States to be brought to trial. He was preceded by Andrew Johnson and more recently by Bill Clinton.
