The whole world unites in the fight against cancer in the month of October.

A beloved Hispanic television personality who went through this harsh diagnosis of breast cancer was the actress and presenter Adamari López, who recalled the difficulties she had to face in her process during a panel with other women who have suffered from the same disease.

The co-host of Un nuevo día (Telemundo) interviewed three women who told their story. Mónica Fernández, who rebuilt her life after being diagnosed twice with breast cancer. The first in her country, Venezuela, and the second in the United States. Today she celebrates being cancer free.

Personal trainer and beauty queen Siluandra Scheffer was diagnosed while on an anti-cancer diet. "What I learned is that sometimes you need to lose everything, all your qualities, to understand that everything you have is beautiful, that your body was the most beautiful, that your hair was the most incredible."

Scheffer's response upset Adamari to the point that he could not hold back the tears recalling his own struggle.

"After you have overcome the disease, it is much easier to come and talk about all these things," he said in a broken voice. "Seeing your little hair that is just growing gives me emotion when I see you because I remember when I also passed the disease."

During the panel, oncologist Alejandra Pérez spoke about the importance of having monthly check-ups to detect symptoms in time such as lumps or masses, changes in skin color, discharge from the nipple, and having a mammogram to rule out the possibility of a breast cancer

“The most important message is that we are all at risk. Being a woman puts us at risk. It doesn't matter if we have a family history or not. No matter the age, we are all at risk and we have to pay attention.”
