The cold-blooded murder of singer Kevin Fret, which occurred early this Thursday in Puerto Rico, has generated outrage inside and outside the island. Now local authorities have launched a search to find the subject who allegedly shot the openly gay singer to death.

This Friday, Mayda Ortíz, head of the San Juan Criminal Investigations Corps, told WKAQ radio station that she is looking for a subject who was seen by patrollers leaving the crime scene.

"On reaching Eduardo Conde Street, they observe an individual who is observing another who is lying on the pavement," explained the official. "The moment they are approaching, this individual who is observing mounts one of the motorboats and leave the place”.

The subject was described as a man with a white complexion, mustache and black beard who was dressed in a black cap and T-shirt.

The official also confirmed that the urban singer was killed with 12 shots, and not eight, as had been initially reported.

It was also confirmed that the accident occurred at 5:31 am, local time and that after being transferred to the Río Piedras Fret Medical Center, he died around 8:15 am

According to the local newspaper El Nuevo Día, the brother of the deceased artist identified the vehicle found next to the victim's body. "We do have a person who identified himself as Kevin Fret's brother, based on the characteristics he identifies the motorboat as his property," he said.

Network users turned to express their outrage at the murder. "This is really sad news for Puerto Rico and the LGBTQ community," said a Twitter user. "We are looking at a hate crime," someone else exclaimed.

Despite the testimonies of said police officers, police sources mentioned to the newspaper that there are still no suspects for the crime.

Fret jumped onto the music scene with the video “Soy soy” which to date has accumulated more than half a million views on YouTube. In the song the singer described himself as "the reincarnation of [the Mexican painter] Frida Khalo ".

In its April issue, Paper magazine called Fret "the first openly gay trap artist." "I am a person who doesn't care what others say," Fret told the publication. "Young gays or young lesbians who look at me as a role model, like wow, if he did it and if he doesn't care what others say, then I can do it too."
