The expected trial of Bill Cosby for alleged sexual abuse was launched this Monday in Philadelphia amid great expectations.

The 79-year-old American comedian has been accused of drugging and sexually abusing Temple University employee Andrea Constand more than a decade ago in his mansion outside Pennsylvania city.

At the start of the trial, the prosecution noted that Cosby had already admitted under oath to have supplied Constand with some pills and that he had touched his genitals while lying on a sofa in the home of the also actor and businessman.

"I couldn't say no," prosecutor Kristen Feden told the jury. "She couldn't move, she couldn't speak. I was completely paralyzed."

In her response, the defense argued that Cosby and the young woman were in a love relationship, and all she gave him was Benadryl because she had complained that she had a cold.

Although this is the only criminal process he faces, the comedian has been accused by more than 50 women of having drugged them to sexually abuse them over the decades. The defendant has denied the allegations.

If found guilty, you could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on each count of aggravated sexual assault and would have to legally register as a sex offender.

To avoid this, it has an experienced legal team in its defense led by Brian McMonagle, who in the past defended a woman accused of stabbing her husband 16 times and a Catholic archbishop involved in a pedophilia scandal, among other cases, and prominent attorney Angela Agrusa of the Los Angeles law firm Liner Law.

Despite her legal problems, Cosby added that she misses being on camera and longing to start a new stage in her career.

"I miss it all and hope that day will come," Cosby told NNPA Newswire. “I have some routines and narrations that I'm working on. I think about going on stage somewhere in the United States of America and sitting in a chair to give the performance that will be the beginning of the next chapter of my career.”

Despite the rain of accusations and admitting that he was unfaithful, the comedian has so far received the support of his wife Camille, although she did not attend the first day of the trial.

Evin Cosby, the artist's 40-year-old daughter, has passionately defended her father, whom she said has not been treated fairly by the public and the media.
