Michael A. Jones, the man who was accused in November of murdering his son, 7-year-old Adrian Jones, and then feeding the pigs his remains, pleaded guilty Friday to a Kansas state court.
As reported by The New York Post, during the hearing, Deputy Prosecutor Sheryl Lidtke described the little victim as a curious boy, full of energy, who was basically left to starve while being subjected to other abuses, until finally he died and his body was distributed among the pigs. Lidtke also said this abuse case has been the worst she has seen in her nearly three decades as a prosecutor.
In November Heather Jones, the boy's stepmother pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and two crimes of child abuse against the boy and was sentenced to life in prison. She could request his release after serving 25 years in prison.
Judy Conway, the boy's grandmother, said he is "very happy" to know that Michael Jones has pleaded guilty and that he hopes that he and his wife will spend the rest of their lives in prison. "[This] will not bring Adrian back, of course," he stated, "but it makes me feel very good that [neither] can hurt another child again."
The sentence of Jones, who faces being subjected to a life sentence without the right to freedom for 25 years, is scheduled for May 3.
