Since Marylin Odessa decided that she would follow in her mother's footsteps, singer Marisela, in music, has not let anything or anyone stop her. That includes her beloved husband and her fervent detractors. And although the road has not been easy for the 27-year-old who has had to face strong criticism and the difficult world of women in Mexican regional music, she does not give up and releases her new single titled “Y no me I was wrong”[Lizos Music], with which he hopes to ease the hearts of the girls.

Tell us about your new single …

“I wish I could excel with songs that people can identify with, be it a man or a woman. I sing songs of love, of heartbreak. In this case, the song is about common pairs. There are many times that a man leaves us because he thinks he is going to find something better and then returns because he sees everything he lost.

I wish I could reach the hearts of many women who feel identified with my songs. Let them feel the feeling with which I sing them”.

But you have maintained a stable relationship with your husband, you are not heartbroken…

"Thank God I have not had to suffer, obviously as every married couple we have our problems, our disagreements, but you have to work, be strong, communicate well, but I can feel what I sing, I put myself in the shoes of the song and I achieve connect intimately with what I'm saying."

What has been the key to maintaining a stable relationship when you work together?

It is very difficult to have your partner in the same business as you, to help you because they do not like you to send them or tell them what to do and it gets difficult there. But the most important thing is to have communication.

If there are moments where I get angry and send it, as far as you believe! But it is knowing how to separate work with family issues. As my partner, my husband has supported me from the first day I said I want to sing. I spoke to him and said: 'I want to sing, this is my dream and I will not stop until I achieve it, if you cannot support me, do not get in my way'. Thank God he has supported me, we have had a very beautiful relationship”.

Not everything is rosy and you have your detractors, what do you think is the bad perception that people have of you?

“Unfortunately, you cannot control what people say, what you think. Sometimes I am completely shocked to see comments about what people think of me. Really if you know me, you know how I am, I do have a strong character, but I am still a person who will support you 100 percent always, I will always be by your side, but once you betray me or speak to me back, things change there and I feel that everyone is the same. The different thing is that I am a public person, the daughter of an artist, people automatically think: 'She is the daughter of Marisela, she affects me well, I still hold my head high, I still want her.'

What would you like people to know about you, the people who criticize you?

I would like people to take a moment to really get to know me. I am very open with my personal life, I share a little bit of everything. I would like people to see what I really do. People say that I am very heavy but they don't know me, they don't know what I've been through to be the way I am. They don't know how hard I have worked to be where I am. This nobody gave it to me, I have been working for years trying to make a name for myself. The criticisms are difficult to accept, to listen to. Like any person, criticism does affect us and I feel that this is the greatest challenge of being an artist”.

What has been the most difficult part of being Marisela's daughter and having a career in music?

“The work is double, to demonstrate that not only because I am the daughter of Marisela do I want to be famous, I want to be known by my voice, that people give me that opportunity to listen to my songs, to hear how I sing, to know myself as a person. Honestly, it has been one of the most difficult things at work, to show [my talent], to be given opportunities because for obvious reasons because people think: 'She is Marisela's daughter, she is not going to arrive' and not. My mom is completely different."

Now you embark on an adventure as a businesswoman with a line of sportswear for 'curvibuenas' women…

Yes. It is called Queens Kartel, Queens because I believe that all women are queens because women make the family, maintain the house, form their own empire, look after the children, a man without the woman is left alone and that is why we are all queens We are mothers, cooks, we clean, we sing, we act and we do everything.

I feel that at this moment people suffer from self-esteem and I want to say to women that I have always been a chubby woman with some buttocks and some legs. When I was little I said: 'why do I have these legs when my mom has small legs?'. At this age, I am 27 years old, two children, I love my body as I am. Obviously I want to improve it but I want to tell women that all bodies are beautiful. We will have clothes for all bodies, for all types of women, all styles of women. Good quality clothing, beautiful clothing to inspire them to continue improving.”

What is your recommendation to keep fit?

“I have made thousands of diets and I feel that the best thing that has worked for me is knowing how to eat in moderation. Do not say: 'I want a pozole' and you will eat the whole pot of pozole. The important thing is to indulge your craving with measure. Queens Kartel is going to have something for everyone.”

On a musical level, what follows …

"I want to continue working. On March 24 I have to open the concert for Paquita [la del Barrio] at the National Auditorium [in Mexico], many dates are coming, a lot of work and many new things. I want to do a lot, that people listen to my new single, that they follow me on social networks so that they get to know me and know what I am like and not criticize me at all,”he finished with a laugh.
