Custo Barcelona presented its new resort collection with great success during Miami Fashion Week. The Spanish designer, who for the first time presents his designs in that city, showed his new proposal for his Resort 2018 collection, in which metallic pieces, embroidery and, as usual, very striking colors reigned. We spoke with the designer so that he could tell us more about his inspiration to create the striking collection, one of the most anticipated of said event and where Elizabeth Gutiérrez, Clarissa Molina, Antonio Banderas, among other celebrities, gathered.

Custo, what inspires you for this new collection?

We have titled it Light Years because we have chosen brightness as the common thread of the collection so that it becomes [the] actor by day and not only by night and party.

You usually present your collection in NY. How does presenting in Miami differ?

Miami is a more relaxed and playful environment than New York. The perception of the collection is also focused on these two aspects. Styling is lighter.

How would you define this stage of your career in which you find yourself, how has Custo Barcelona evolved?

After 37 years with the project in the market, we are in the generational transfer and we must explain our genetics to the children of our first consumers. The project has evolved towards sophistication and containment. We are not trend followers. We are interested in differentiation and individuality. We are interested in women who are interested in expressing their diversity as part of their personality.

Which Latin or Spanish women have inspired you or inspire you with their style and why?

Latin women are part of our inspiration because we are committed to femininity, sensuality and color, which are values in Latin women.
